What even is a cat?

Two updates for this week, roughed in camera setup and explored character animation.

The cameras are setup with Unity's Cinemachine. There is a dolly track running around the edge of the room to serve as a general guide  for testing. This setup helps me explore what lens allows enough of the content to be in frame at once. The proxy cat made from sphere is following the track around the room. The purpose of this test is to ensure that the elements I want visible can be seen easily. I'm not fully pleased with how this is setup at the moment. I'd like to see more of the walls in the room when the cat is moving along the outside. To get the effect I want I might need to have the camera on an inverted dolly so that it is always on the opposite side of the room looking across the center to the wall in focus. For now through this should be enough visibility to finish up the art and begin in on character controls.

The character isn't intended to be four spheres approximating a cat but rather much more cat shaped. Exploring the walk cycle this week helped me internalize what a cat is and how it moves. I think the animation is missing a frame but it demonstrates the principal of where all the limbs are during the motion. It also helped me understand which shapes make the drawing feel like a cat in motion. I have considered using a sprite based character for the cat... but I think a simple 3d model should be more readable and allow for more interesting physics interactions. The frames in the cat pushing the vase off the shelf (below) helped me explore the shapes of a cat's face as it turns and I think I will use the same shapes to define the critical points of the model.

If I was to sum up the intention of the game in one (animated) image it would the the second one.
Just a cat, pushing stuff off shelves.
